Chapter 55

Yun Duo did not expect someone to be such a shameless rogue, exemplifying shamelessness in such a different way. She had no choice but to raise her head and stare into his satisfied gaze, gentle yet heated. His eyes were a deep, deep ocean, and she was a fish swimming within it, so deeply within it that she could not extricate herself.

She stared at him in a daze, immobile.

Tang Yi-Bai did not receive a response from her, so he could only help himself. He clasped her chin and his gaze fell to her lips. He slowly bent his head and leaned in.

Yun Duo's heart trembled, like the soft flutter of a butterfly's wings. She was suddenly very nervous, so nervous that her legs felt weak. She did not dare to look at him, closing her eyes tightly.

But his kiss never came.

Yun Duo opened her eyes and saw Tang Yi-Bai looking somewhere behind her. His expression was as dark as thunderclouds.

Surprised and curious, she turned to look, only to see the back of someone running away from them. She saw that that person had a camera hanging around their neck.

Looks like it was a fellow reporter.

However, this peer was acting so shadily that they must be a paparazzo{Apparently, 'paparazzo' is the singular version of 'paparazzi'. :D}.

Tang Yi-Bai let go of Yun Duo and chased after the person with large strides. Long legs were an advantage — it didn't take long for him to chase up to that short-legged shrimp. When Yun Duo caught up to them, Tang Yi-Bai had a firm grip on the other's camera.

As soon as Yun Duo saw the paparazzo's face, she instantly cried out in recognition, "Chen Si-Qi?"

"Yun Duo?" Chen Si-Qi's expression was just as shocked. "I thought it looked like you. I can't believe it's really you! You... you two?" She pointed a finger at Tang Yi-Bai and then at Yun Duo, the meaning behind her question evident.

Yun Duo did not know how to explain. Tang Yi-Bai's expression had initially been very cold and tense, but seeing that the two knew each other, his expression eased a little. He asked Yun Duo, "A friend?"

Yun Duo nodded. "A university classmate. Now an entertainment reporter."

Chen Si-Qi waved at Tang Yi-Bai, smiling exceptionally brightly. "Hello, Adonis! I'm Chen Si-Qi."

Tang Yi-Bai thought, 'Who cares what you're called?!' Right now, he was rather sick and tired of these entertainment reporters. Wherever he went, there they were, snapping shots willy-nilly and then writing whatever they liked to go with the shots. Thanks to these entertainment reporters, he had already changed his 'girlfriend' several times. Now, things had become even more extreme. This person actually ruined a great moment for him — it was practically unbearable.

Chen Si-Qi noticed Tang Yi-Bai's deep frown and how he seemed on the verge of exploding, and she felt rather scared. She quickly let go of her camera so he could take it away. "Alright, alright, you can go ahead and delete the photos yourself."

Yun Duo leaned in closer to remind Tang Yi-Bai, "Photos may be restored even after deleting. Check and see if the memory card is empty. If it's empty, just help her format it."

Chen Si-Qi hissed through her teeth, "Yun Duo, how could you? Mates before dates!{重色轻友: or alternatively, 'How could you? Friends before lovers!'. The original actually translates more directly into 'you prioritise love and take your friends lightly' but that's obviously clunky and doesn't have the same oomph. If anyone can think of a better way of translating this phrase, please leave a comment!}"

Tang Yi-Bai smiled wryly in amusement, sweeping a glance down at Yun Duo. His eyebrows were slanted slightly downwards, and there was a faint fondness even he was unaware of showing on his face.

Chen Si-Qi was dumbfounded. If Adonis Tang would look at her like that for just one moment, even death would be worth it!

In the end, Tang Yi-Bai only deleted the photo before returning the camera to Chen Si-Qi. He said, "I believe you won't spread the news about us."

"No, no, of course not! Adonis, you must believe me!" Chen Si-Qi said, raising three fingers to the sky like she was about to swear an oath.

Tang Yi-Bai did not wait to hear her oath, turning to leave with Yun Duo in tow.

Chen Si-Qi saw their figures disappearing into the distance, and she thudded her head lightly against a tree trunk. "Damn, damn, damn! Why did I have to choose to work in the entertainment circuit, why?! Such a top-notch hunk being nabbed by Yun Duo just like that!"

Meanwhile, Yun Duo brisk walked with Tang Yi-Bai to the gates of the base, where she then adjusted her backpack and said, "Well then, I'll go now."

"What's the rush? Let's have dinner together."

"Um... ok? Then I'll come over again in the evening."

"Don't go." Tang Yi-Bai blocked her path. "I still need to train right now. If you don't have anything to do, you could come with me and wait. When my training's done, we can then leave together."

Yun Duo shook her head. "Won't that be a problem? Aren't reporters not allowed to enter the base without permission from the team?"

Tang Yi-Bai stared at her with a smile. "Reporters can't, but family can."

With just one sentence, he made Yun Duo blush again. He reached out to clasp her hand. She was a little embarrassed, worried that someone might see, so she pulled back. But Tang Yi-Bai stubbornly clasped her hand again, his large hands wrapping fully around her smaller hands. Seeing her blush, he smiled and said, "Why so shy? You're mine now that you've kissed me."

"Stop talking about that..." Yun Duo turned away, bristling with embarrassment.
