Chapter 84

Although Tang Yi-Bai was very moved, he did not forget to counsel Yun Duo. "Duoduo, don't really go and beat Lin Sang."

"Why? You feel bad for her?"

"No, I just don't want you to be dragged down by this matter as well. After all, deliberately injuring another person is a crime, even if the other party is a vegetable. Don't worry. A gentleman can even wait ten years for proper revenge. Even if the police can't find any evidence to arrest him, I'll remember this and there will be plenty of chances in the future to get payback. But no matter what, I don't want you to take the risk."

"Fine. Don't worry, I was just scaring him anyway. It's all about attitude. Attitude, you understand?"

He smiled and grazed her nose. "Understood."

In the afternoon, the police called Tang Yi-Bai to apologise for what happened with Lin Zi. Even though Lin Zi was a major suspect... they just could not find any evidence. The bureau had even used a lie detector on Lin Zi to no avail.

However, the next day, the police called again. They told Tang Yi-Bai that Lin Zi had already turned himself in and confessed to the crime of hiring others with the intention to harm.

The case was resolved — the public condemned the 'suspect-Lin' reported by the bureau, and Yun Duo's heart finally settled back into her ribcage. She no longer had to worry about someone jumping out of the shadows to harm Tang Yi-Bai.

Tang Yi-Bai's life while being treated did not change much during all this. The only change was the content of the stories Uncle Kang told him every day. This uncle switched freely between his two identities of 'con artist' and 'miracle doctor', actually coming up with seven epic emotionally-laden love stories. Tang Yi-Bai listened to them with relish, while Yun Duo was reduced to a puddle of tears by them. She felt that both Tang Yi-Bai and herself were about to be driven mad by these stories.

On the 12th day after Tang Yi-Bai was injured, Dr. Xu did an x-ray on Tang Yi-Bai. When the results came out, Dr. Xu was ecstatic. "Yi-Bai, callus has already grown around the injury site!" He clucked as he shook his head. "It's miraculous! Not even two weeks!"

Generally speaking, the growth of a callus around a bone injury was the most crucial step in recovery. Once a callus had grown, the plaster cast could be removed. Of course, the removal of the cast did not mean the injury was completely healed yet. For that to happen, the callus had to settle and finish being remodelled into bone. Frankly, Tang Yi-Bai had been lucky. He had managed to dodge a little when he had been hit. Even though he did not manage to avoid injury completely, much of the force behind the blow had been diverted, which was why he had only ended up with a fracture and not a broken bone. The fracture was also a relatively minor one, and so could recover relatively quickly. Furthermore, he was very young and was in good physical condition.

Even so, for a callus to grow in in less than two weeks was still a small miracle. If they had relied on Dr. Xu's treatment plan, this would be inconceivable even under the most optimistic estimations. Dr. Xu could only marvel at the wonders of traditional medicine, whilst also feeling a little regretful that he could not learn it. Honestly, what era were they living in now? Still only passing the knowledge onto men and not women. If the next few generations only produce daughters, would all these ancestral treasures end up in coffins?

After the cast was removed, Dr. Xu administered a strength test on Tang Yi-Bai. When all indications confirmed he was ok, Dr. Xu let Tang Yi-Bai leave with the x-rays.

Tang Yi-Bai hugged Yun Duo while still holding the film. He smiled and said, "I can finally hug you with both arms."

Boo hoo hoo, why was she moved by such a normal sentence...?

Yun Duo brought the x-rays to Uncle Kang. "Two weeks for callus formation, then will the bone remodelling also take two weeks? Four weeks for full recovery?"

Uncle Kang smiled and said, "The bone remodelling may not take two weeks."

"Really? Why? I've heard that bone remodelling isn't that easy."

"Because we can apply ointments now. The Kang-family ointments are the truly magical ones."

Uncle Kang did not like looking at x-rays. He asked Tang Yi-Bai to move his wrist and then he looked at it and pressed around it. In the end, he nodded and after closing his eyes in thought for a moment, he prescribed a new treatment plan. At the end, he did not forget to remind the couple: No intercourse!

Yun Duo was extremely embarrassed.

Tang Yi-Bai's subsequent treatment plan would involve Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and also ointment patches.

As his right hand was now free, his daily little benefit of Yun Duo helping him to dress and undress was no longer applicable. He was a little sorry about that, but he soon found a new pleasure to indulge in: Undressing himself in front of Yun Duo...

He moved very slowly, incrementally revealing more and more of himself, as if making sure his only audience member was enjoying herself, hoping she would get her fill of watching him.

Yun Duo was internally breaking down. "Tang Yi-Bai, will it kill you to not be such a rogue?"

Tang Yi-Bai grinned. "This is considered being a rogue? When I truly become a rogue, you better not cry."

Yun Duo turned away with a red face and pretended not to see him.

Tang Yi-Bai looked at her bright red face and his gaze darkened gradually.

She did not know how much Tang Yi-Bai had endured over these past few days. Every night, he fell asleep with a soft sweet treasure in his arms, but he was actually as celibate as a monk. He had to work hard to suppress his physical impulses — it was truly the sweetest torment. In any case, these days of suppression had led to an imbalance in his mental state. He felt like he was a ravenous wolf — his gaze at Yun Duo these days were always tinged with a dark fire, like he was staring at a juicy piece of tasty meat. Yun Duo was still oblivious, and occasionally, an inadvertent look or movement of hers would pull at the lust in him.

These days seemed like they would never end. Tang Yi-Bai felt that if things were to continue on this way, he would eventually end up as a pervert.

On the 20th day of Tang Yi-Bai's injury, both Grandpa Kang and Dr. Xu came to the same conclusion via independent evaluations. Tang Yi-Bai was healed. He could enter the pool again.

Yun Duo was so happy that she was jumping for joy, hugging them all in turn. Grandpa Kang was taken off guard by the hug and was a little discomfited, but his typically stern face carried a trace of a smile.

As Tang Yi-Bai would have to return to the team very soon, Yun Duo would not stay at the rehabilitation centre for much longer either. She packed to go home. The Kang father and son duo planned to explore City-B for two days before they went home, and Dr. Xu would be their tour guide.

In the afternoon, Tang Yi-Bai sent Yun Duo home. It was drizzling outside, the rain as fine as silk, the air damp and moist. Tang Yi-Bai was holding up an umbrella. He was tall, and with the umbrella held up high, he was like a sky onto himself. Under this little piece of sky, Yun Duo felt especially free.

When they returned, the Tang couple were not home, leaving only Er-Bai to watch the house. Er-Bai had not seen Yun Duo for a long time. When he saw her, he was really happy, hopping onto his feet to pounce on her. He was too chubby though, and Yun Duo was almost toppled over by him. She scratched at his ruff, smiling, and said, "Er-Bai, you missed me, didn't you? Yes, yes, yes, I know you missed me. Good boy. Come give me a hug..."

Er-Bai was so excited he was howling, and his tail was wagging so fast it looked like it would take flight.

Tang Yi-Bai was rather annoyed at Er-Bai, pulling him away to toss him into the study room before slamming the door shut.

Yun Duo could almost hear Er-Bai's sorrowful cries. She was a little troubled. "Why did you treat him like that? He's still just a little kid!"

"For me, he's a noisy lightbulb."

The two of them changed into their indoor shoes, and then Tang Yi-Bai put the umbrella into the restroom to dry out. When he came out, he saw Yun Duo lifting her luggage bag off the ground and walking towards her room. The wheels of her bag were muddy, so she was afraid to dirty the floorboards.

Tang Yi-Bai walked over and took the bag from her, and then strode briskly towards her bedroom.

"Hey, hey, hey," Yun Duo ran after him, fretting, "Your hand! Don't lift heavy objects!"

"Don't worry, it's fine now."

He entered her room and put the bag down. Yun Duo quickly tugged his hand over to examine it, grumbling as she did so, "At least be careful about it. Use it as little as possible. What if..." She did not continue because it would only be unfortunate speculations after that.

Tang Yi-Bai said nothing. Yun Duo found that strange and raised her head to look at him. He was staring down at her right then, gaze heated.

Uh, isn't there something wrong with this mood?

Before she had time to think things through, Tang Yi-Bai had abruptly lifted her chin to kiss her. His kiss was desperate and fervent, like a volcano erupting, about to engulf her entirely. Just like that, Yun Duo was swept into the deep vortex of the kiss. She responded clumsily, dizzy from his kiss, her body going weak.

Until he suddenly let her go before sweeping her up by the waist to throw her onto the bed.

Yun Duo bounced a little of the mattress, and she scrambled to sit up, but his body suddenly descended upon her to press her down.

Another passionate kiss robbed her of her reason. She did not know where her limbs should go. Something was different about him today — he was wild and domineering, and it was a little frightening. She tried to push him away, but he would not budge. He pressed down on her, their bodies extremely close, and then she felt the change in his body. She thought, 'He has really held back for too long. It must have been difficult.' And so she took the initiative this time to bring her hand lower to 'help' him.

She was so embarrassed she could die every time they did something like this.

Tang Yi-Bai arched his back to work with her. He relinquished her lips, but the kisses did not stop. He rained them down her cheeks to her ear, where he then stretched out his tongue to lick at the cuff.

Yun Duo's heart quivered at his ministrations, subconsciously emitting a gentle moan. Her breathing was erratic, her pitch wavering. This unintentional moan seemed to please him, for his kisses became even more relentless. He mouthed at her earlobes and nibbled at them, and then the kisses slowly travelled even lower.

The soft and wet sensations trailed down along her neck to her collarbones. Yun Duo could not describe the feeling — it wasn't a simple 'good' or 'bad'; it felt a little foreign, like a hook trying to lure out some things within her consciousness that were too embarrassing to speak of. She panicked, and instinctively trying to resist this strange and novel stimulation, she gently pushed his head.

Tang Yi-Bai's hand stroked along her waistline and slipped under her shirt. His fingertips caressed the soft, smooth skin of her slender waist, gentle and slow, a silent tease. Yun Duo finally realised that what he wanted might not be as simple as just 'helping'. She was so flustered she instantly moved to grab his hand to push it away, and then she began struggling to escape the shroud of his body.

Tang Yi-Bai gave up on her collarbones and raised his head to kiss her on the lips. As he kissed her, he said urgently, "Duoduo, did you prepare a gift for me to celebrate my recovery?"

"Uh..." Yun Duo's mind was a mess, and under his hands at the moment, she had no room to think anyway, so she could only ask, "What gift would you like?"

"I want to end my 23-year stretch of being a virgin."

"..." Yun Duo gasped and said, "No, cool down."

"I can't cool down," he said, thrusting his hips forwards, providing hard evidence that he really could not calm down at this moment.

"But it's still day time..."

"It'll be as dark as night if you close your eyes."

"No, Tang Yi-Bai, we can't..."

"Duoduo, please, Duoduo," he begged, his voice hoarse with desire, yet incomparably sweet and gentle. He kissed her again, raining kisses down on her in a dense, inescapable web, covering her fully.

Yun Duo's defences were on the verge of collapse, but she managed to put up one final resistance: "But we don't have any safety measures..."

"We do." Tang Yi-Bai lifted his body to pull open a drawer and took out a condom from it.

Yun Duo was dumbfounded. "When did you hide that in there? How did I not notice it?"

Right now wasn't the time to delve into the topic — Tang Yi-Bai darted back like an agile leopard to embrace her again. He stared at her through narrowed eyes, his pretty eyes shimmering with surging desire and pleading. "Duoduo, can I?"

Yun Duo could not refuse him any further. She nodded with a red face.

And then she quickly regretted it —

"It hurts!!!!!" It hurt so much that her eyes shone with tears, and she pounded at his chest reflexively. "Get out!"

Tang Yi-Bai felt his heart ache seeing her like this, and was about to obediently retreat when she hit him again. "Don't move!"

Tang Yi-Bai: "..."

And so the two of them held still in this position. Yun Duo was shedding tears from the pain, while Tang Yi-Bai was also uncomfortable, controlling himself till his face was red and covered in sweat. He bent down to kiss away her tears and said with a sigh, "You... are just so small."

Yun Duo said huffily, "Why don't you say that you're too big instead?!"

Tang Yi-Bai stared blankly for a moment, and then he chuckled deeply. The corners of his eyes quirked upwards, his eyes sparkling like spring water, his gaze as gentle as peach blossom petals falling onto her face.

Yun Duo was so embarrassed that she pulled a pillow over to hide her face and play at being an ostrich. She opened her mouth and her voice could be heard coming through the pillow, muffled, "Move now!"

He smiled. "As you command."
